i play online and i really enjoy playing. But my little brother likes battlefield 2 and i make him play single player because i dont want him playing multiplayer. However, he's been bugging me for new maps for so long. Are there any maps i can download that will work in single player? preferably wake island if they have it or levels with helicopters and jets. Also he saw the unlockable weapons on my bfhq and was wondering if there was a way to use those in single player w/ mods or whatever.

I Need a new laptop for student teaching and possible gaming (project reality)?
I am a student teacher and have just dropped my laptop, causeing it to break. I am now looking for a laptop at around $500 that can handel the use of a teacher and someone who searches the interned often (reddit). I would be willing to pay a few hundred dollars more if there was a laptop which could also handle the game project reality, which is a battlefield 2 mod.

I've downloaded the Custom Map Shipment for Battlefield 2 and it says to put it under Battlefield2/Mods/Bf2/Levels

ok so, i downloaded and extracted the mod. everything comes up like it should, but then when i log in and i click single player, multi player, or bfhq, my game crashes and shuts down!!!!!! so that means all i can do is go the options tab at the top!!! how do i fix it?!?!?! How to use player-made Battlefield 2 maps?
I have downloaded a number of player-made maps for Battlefield 2, in WinRaR format but cannot get them to work. The readme says to use the following path: "programfiles/eagames/battlefield2/mods/鈥?folder". However, Battlefield 2 is not even in program files, but in "my Documents" and there is no "level" folder in the "mods" folder. When I made my own level folder, it did not seem to work. Yeah. Simple answer; You screwed up. Somewhere in the installation process, you managed to shove the whole game file into your documents-- but don't fret. There is yet hope. Go into the settings where you pull out the maps, and click browse, find, or something like that. From there, go get the file, and load it up. If all else fails, reinstall it. That's all I can say.

I think both series are good but over the years, the COD series has started to become more repetitve. Call Of Duty World At War got such a low rating become it was so similar to Modern Warfare and the only difference would be the weapons, perks and theme.
Not only that but small changes in the COD series gets much more hype than a big change in the Battlefield series. That is one of the reason why COD is so popular. COD is a more fast paced solo game while Battlefield is a game where every is destructable.

How do you host cracked servers?
Okay, I want to play a mod for Battlefield Vietnam again, but since the game is pretty much dead, all the players left are on the original game. I know of a couple communities that were able to create a no-cd key server for Battlefield 1942, then include a cracked version of the expansion packs and some map packs, and now all 3 of their servers are full. I have a BF1942 server, so I want to be able to create a cracked version of BF Vietnam and the mod I want to host.How do you host cracked servers?

First off, what operating system are you using (i.e. Vista, XP, Windows 7 ect.) I have never encountered nor heard of this error before. I would suggest reinstalling the game (yes it's tedious) but has always worked for me. Make sure you're running the game as administrator.
To run BF2 as admin right-click on the BF2 shortcut.
- Select properties
- Select the compatability tab.
- Check the box that asks you "Run as administrator?"
That's how it works for windows 7 anyways, it might be a little different for a different operating system.

Will my computer run effeciently for battlefield 2?
I was able to run it somewhat smoothly on low graphics before I fried my motherboard. I actually play a more commanding mod for battlefield 2 called Project Reality, In which I could hardly play without it lagging all the time.
I went from an Athlon 64 x2 3200 processor, 1gb RAM, and a 6100 GeForce graphics card, and ordered an entirely new motherboard, Athlon 64 x2 4200 processor, 2gb ram, and 9400GT GeForce. Still waiting for it to be shipped in %26gt;%26lt;.

You should be able to run the game just fine with the specs you have, on problem you might have is FPS problems because of the processing power the game will need. Just dont set ALL the graphics to max just the important ones.

Like in the question. If I play Battlefield 2 can I level up in single player mode and earn medals like in Multiplayer. No, you need to play online on v1.50 ranked servers to level up and get medals, unlock weapons etc.
Some 3rd party mods have their own ranking system, but that is still multiplayer I think.

okay last night i downloaded a mod for battlefield to then it said it can not run in this Display or settings so i changed the refresh rate and unchecked the box and checked it back in. The simplest, easiest, and possibly quickest solution would be to completely uninstall the game via Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel. A good mod shouldn't affect the original game files, so either you installed it wrong or the mod was made badly.

News flash: You can get "Mods" for BF2 that stay in their own folders without interfering with the original game or changing things, preventing you from playing it online. For example, my favorite is FFolkes_Unlocks1.41 (i believe it is available from filecloud.com or some other free sites) since it gives you special forces tools such as the grapple hook and zipline and night vision, for even the normal levels (this is ONLY for single player!) and the best part, gives you all three of the unlockable guns for each kit! So keys 1-2-3 are the G3, F2000, and whatever the newest british assault rifle is, when you're playing as the assault kit. Anti-tank gets the DAO-12, P90, and i think an mp5? Anyways it's awesome. Also, if you go to filecloud to get your stuff, they should also have the bot changer mod, which allows you to change the number of bots you play against (this directly affects game speed performance so you'll have to turn graphics down if you turn bot numbers up!) as well as setting them to noob level difficulty.
When you install ffolkes unlocks, it will give you an icon on your desktop to use to launch it. You can still launch your original BF2 without it being harmed or changed, although if you do stuff like the bot changer or a 64-player map swap for single player (also available) then i can't say if those will keep your original BF2 in tact for online play, but i know FFolkes Unlocks will.

When you install ffolkes unlocks, it will give you an icon on your desktop to use to launch it. You can still launch your original BF2 without it being harmed or changed, although if you do stuff like the bot changer or a 64-player map swap for single player (also available) then i can't say if those will keep your original BF2 in tact for online play, but i know FFolkes Unlocks will.

I have the game battlefield 2142 deluxe edition and i recently got a new computer.
when i try to install it on my new compy it gets to the point where it is installing

I cant get this to work. I downloaded it and did what the instructions told me to " after download unzip the folder in your battlefield 2142 folder. and copy all of your levels in the battlefield 2142 folder to levels in the HER folder." I did all that. I started the gameand clcked community, clicked on costum games, clicked her and clicked launch. it went through the intro movies and as soon as the menu started coming up it crashed and said battlefield2142.exe has stopped working............. it has done this several times and i cant get it to work. I can't play any custom maps on Battlefield 2. I downloaded a stunt mod with a map called "HALO," and couldn't play it. oh, in single player, i have seen videos of mods like semi auto, unlimited ammo, no bullet dispersion (basically a 100% accurate rifle hooked up to a belt feed) knifing someone from 75 feet away, these are all mods too, these are more severe in the way that they change the games programming,

Hosting a multiplayer online game through a router?
I'd like to run a dedicated server for a battlefield mod, can anyone tell me in easy steps how to do this? My ISP is BT and the router is ADSL ( I have a home hub too, but stil use the voyager 210 I had before upgrading my package).
My PC well exceeds the spec for hosting BF, and I'm going to buy another (on wednesday!) just for running the server if I find how to run it.
Any help would be very welcome

Hi i got a program call battlefield 2 map editor, you can make maps edit the whole game even for that matter and so on. Only one problem want to edit a map so ok i load a map but hey it wouldn't load and it says :" mods/xpack/levels/surge/init.con not found!" what do i do ?! xpack means the game, and ofcourse surge is the game level for battlefield 2 special forces. Battlefield 2 Complete Collection Special Forces ERROR help plz?
I began by starting the download of Battlefield 2: Complete Collection. I got through the original Battlefield 2 with ease, but when for special forces, it got almost completely done, when i was given this error; MD5Error: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\battlefield 2\mods\xpack\objects_client.zip, retry? Then it prompted me with yes or no. I clicked yes but the error just kept repeating. Finally i clicked no and special forces loaded. After i finished everything i restarted my computer, and when i tried to upload any level in special forces, it barely loaded then it terminated the entire program. I figured ti was related to the error earlier. So i reinstalled it, and now i am bakc at the error screen. Please help!!!!!!Battlefield 2 Complete Collection Special Forces ERROR help plz?

I am haveing trouble with my AIX mod for battlefield 2,can enyone help!?
i had download a AIX mod for battlefield 2 and i saw alot of pics of that mod and i reeally love it. so once i download it, it took 21 hours to downoad so i waited 21 hours. once fully installed i download the maps to AIX mod. and then i setup the mod and once i started it had a black screen and then i heard a ding sound. i saw a message that seid some shader or something in the mod had failed or something like that. so i ran the game as a administer and still the saw message, then i turned on BF2 and went o communitys and then activated the mod, then the same thing happend. then i went looking online to find some ideas and none of them helped because people failed to tell the whole thing. so i really hope u guys can help because i've waited HOURS for this mod and its makeing me mad.I am haveing trouble with my AIX mod for battlefield 2,can enyone help!?

Battlefield 2 causes stop error when I try and run a map, Need some help please! Options?
If anyone can help me fix this, I will be eternally grateful to them. I just dont understand what is happening. Recently, whenever I try to load a map, the loading bar manages to get a bit of the way along (it can vary how far it gets) and then the computer powers off without warning and restarts (stop error). Because tehy're auto snipers, they arent bolt action. The auto's need to be nurfed so that they aren't over powered. Maps on Battlefield 2 for PC not showing up in game?
I have re-installed the game (which is the basic bundle without any expansions), and I have installed patches 1.4, 1.41, and 1.5, the last of which includes the maps from the booster packs but not from Special Forces.
Now, all the maps are located in the "levels" folder in the EA Games/Battlefield 2/mods/bf2, but only most of them appear in the game. Every single map in the left side and right side columns here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Li鈥?/a> appear in the "levels" folder, but the maps which do not appear in the game are as follows:

ok, I have battlefield 1942 for the PC, so after playing to for a year, it got boring so I modded it. I downloaded the Forgotten Hope 0.67a mod from GameSpot. Ever since I downloaded this mod, every battle added to the game and inproved by the mod do not work. They load from 50%-75% than the game closes. Battlefield 2 map problems?
I bought Battlefield 2 from one of my friends. He has the original. He also gave me a mod called Bf2SP64__232 and bf2_jetpowered_1.0_client. I install Battlefield 2 and it works fine. I then install the map pack mod (Bf2SP64__232) and it doesnt load the maps. The game crashes whenever I try to play a map with the Bf2SP64__232 shortcut. So I went to C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\Bf2SP64\levels and copied everything and pasted it in C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\levels. I then played the game with the normal shortcut and most of the maps work like Dalian Plant 16,32 and 64 players. The map pack mod just added 32 and 64 player maps sizes to each of the maps origionallly in the game. So when I try and play Wake Island 2007 it gets to about 14% and the game crashes. Why does this happen because my friend had a worse computer than mine and Wake Island 64 worked on his PC. Please help me.. It gets to about 14% and it crashes. It happens to a few other maps also like Road to Jalabad.. Please help. Here are my PC specs (they meet the requirements by far):

4GB of RAM

Vista isn't all that much different than XP when it comes to modding. You can just as easily do some simple tricks to your vista to make it look and function like XP.

I'm trying to play Sandbox 1.01 mod and a message keeps appearing saying: mods\bf2\shaders\staticmesh.fx not found!!! after that, it crashes
1. I've tried reinstalling it
2. I've tried putting the shaders_client.zip folder that contains staticmesh.fx into the shaders folder

Possible to mod Battlefield 2 demo?
Just downloaded BF2 demo from Gamespot.com and was playing it for a while. I was just wondering, is it possible to modify the demo version of Battlefield 2? Or does anyone know of a place to download/torrent the full version without online multiplayer. I don't have a good enough internet connection to play online so I could be entertained with the singleplayer.

I recently downloaded a Battlefield 2 Australian Forces v1.01, and I dont know how to install it. The readme file says-
1. Delete any existing version of the mod before installation, i.e. version 0.1, 0.2, 0.28 or 1.0.
You can check if you have an existing version installed by browsing to your Battlefield 2 mods directory, typically 鈥楥:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\鈥?and ensuring that you do not have a mod folder called 鈥楤F2AUS鈥? Why wont battlefield 2 work on win 7?
I had battlefield 2 complete edition working fine on windows vista (surprise) but it doesn't on win 7, same hardware (upgraded graphics card driver is only difference).

Battlefield 3: The best graphics I have ever seen. Complete realism with the new Frostbite engine. The destruction looks epic. Can't wait to breach a house/building on multiplayer and rain down on my enemies. The fact that the maps are huge, you actually have to work as a team like in REAL battle and vehicles are back which just makes it awesome. Mods should be seperate from the original game, the original files don't get changed, so you can choose what you want to play.
Some mods change the controls.con file in My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 0002 etc, but worse case you will have to delete those files and re-set up your controls. PR is a popular mod tho, so doubt they would let it screw up your regular game.driving school
