Battlefield vietnam insert disc error?

I know this is a really old game but i hope somebody can help. i've googled the problem and can't come up with an answer....



when i launch bfv everything works fine (legal copy, no mods, no no-cd crack....all stock) i can connect to a server and play as long as i want. the problem comes up after i leave one server and try to connect to a different one. every time i get a message saying please insert one of the battlefield vietnam discs. if i close bfv completely and restart it it works fine for the first time connecting to a server....then the same problem once i try a new server.



the disc is in the drive and i cant figure it out because if it's not in there the game will not even start. i have tried putting the disc in both dvd drives and it still happens, so i dont think its the drives. any ideas whats causing this and how to fix it?



also sometimes when i browse for servers, the game freezes for about 15-20 seconds. this doesn't happen all the time but it may be related so thought i'd mention it.

I had that problem. It is because you have the wrong disk in the drive. If you have the BF 1942 Complete Collection you need to put disk 5 in. If you only have the Vietnam then put disk 1 in. Don't know why that matters but it's the same problem I had and switching the disc fixed it.Battlefield vietnam insert disc error?

I've had this happen with an nforce motherboard, if you have an nforces motherboard updating chipset drivers should fix it, or, go into Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device manager and click on IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLER, most likely under here anyone with an NFORCE 1, 2, 3, 4 board will have Nvidia Nforce* ATA CONTROLLER - pick update driver and pick NO and pick Install from List then DON'T SEARCH and in the list you should see all the Nvidia items and STANDARD DUAL CHANNEL PCI IDE CONTROLLER. Choose STANDARD DUAL CHANNEL PCI IDE CONTROLLER and you should be good to go.



If it does not show in the Window then you can UNCHECK Show Compatible and then you'll see the Standard on the left choose this and that's it
