When downloading a mod for a pc game do you click open or save?

i have windows 7 and my battlefield folder is in C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2

if i have to save it do i save it into this folder or this C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods

btw everytime i do this i cant seem to play the mod even though i still go to custom games in the game. also tell me the entire process (idont care how long) clearfully.When downloading a mod for a pc game do you click open or save?
