Would i be able to run Skyrim maxed out with HQ mods with this rig?

I would like to know my fps for skyrim 1080p ultra settings with a couple of HQ/HD mods. Also how would my pc handle Battlefield 3?

My rig:

Amd Athlon ii x4 631 @3.0ghz

Radeon hd 6870

8gb ram

500gb Hard drive

I was going to get

Amd Phenom ii x4 970 @ 4.0ghz

Radeon hd 6770

8gb ram

500gb hard drive

But i think the first one seems better priced and i should be able to run skyrim mods (which is the main game i will play)

Tell me what you think

Thanks :DWould i be able to run Skyrim maxed out with HQ mods with this rig?
Your original configuration is better (with the Radeon HD 6870 and Athlon II X4 631) and would handle Skyrim mods.

Overall gaming performance is 70% GPU-driven and there's a huge difference between the 6770 and 6870. The benefit of the higher-end graphics card far outweighs the penalty for the weaker CPU.

The only reason to buy the 2nd system would be if you planned to swap out the graphics card yourself later on- that's easier than upgrading a CPU. That might not be a bad idea.... sell the 6770 for $80 and you'd be within $100 of having a really sweet rig.

BF3 would be ok.

I'm curious how much they're charging for these systems? Because a Core i3 2100 system with a Radeon HD 6870 would outperform the 1st system by a LOT, and match the 2nd system in BF3.

Does the job for under $650
Neither will run Skyrim fully maxed out at the industry standard 1080p. Skyrim is actually quite CPU dependent. As seen here

Apparently if you want to fully max out Skyrim, you're going to have come up with some substantially beefier hardware than either of the two rigs you listed.

As you can see here

It's going to take a 4Ghz Sandy Bridge and a video card on par with at Radeon 6950 or GTX 570 fully max this game out at 1080p

Either of the PC's you listed will play Skyrim, and probably play it at mostly high settings with low/moderate AF and no AA. But neither will max it out, The first rig will likely play BF3 better than the second one.

If you can swing it, opt for an Intel Sandy Bridge quad core CPU and a Radeon 6950 / GTX 560ti video card.Would i be able to run Skyrim maxed out with HQ mods with this rig?
